Dafna is the happy mother of 7 months-old Oren. She was born and raised in Israel and moved to Boston for College, where she studied Music Therapy. She was drawn to this subject for her love of music and healing and was astonished with the impact music can have on the body, mind and soul, as well as it's amazing healing and nurturing aspects. From there her attention turned to infants and she researched her final project at the newborn intensive care unite.
She did her internship at UCSF and fell in love with the area. She moved back to Israel to study the First Step Method where she assisted and worked closely with lead instructors before deciding to bring this method to the US. During her studies she was in awe of the amazing changes babies go through in the first year of life and how much it can effect their lives in the future.
She feel blessed to be able to do this work and touch the lives of so many families and babies.

We empower you as the parent or caregiver to learn about the tools and techniques to be able to support your bundle of joy every step of the way until he/she takes his/her first steps and beyond.
This first year of life is a very exciting and important time in your child's life. You could feel all the more involved by learning how actions and choices can create a strong and positive foundation for life. Better yet, you will learn how to guide your child, hands on, on this joyous journey.
We provide group workshops and private sessions. We go through all the stages of development and their mobility components through fun activities and purpose-built exercises that for your baby are nothing else but playtime! For you it'll be a wonderful discovery how much you CAN do to support your child without interfering or disrupting the flow development.
We learn so much about pregnancy and birth, yet we do not all take infant development classes. Many parents feel overwhelmed by their baby's needs and not sure what to do and what response generate a sense of security. Our approach covers the basics, how to deal with crying and comfort a cranky baby, all the way to specifics, why is tummy time important, how to make it a pleasant experience, what choices today will support better attention spans, joy in physical play (as opposed to stationary play) and much more.
Step Ahead uses the First-Step Method from Israel. The First-Step Method sheds light on infant development and unravels a new perspective on preventing future problems by providing a supportive yet challenging developmental environment during the first years of life. The method is holistic as it incorporates all the sensory and motor systems in the body and the relationship between them. The method is respective to the individual and using its practices does not mean doing the work for the baby, rather helping the baby become aware of him/herself and his/her abilities.
Our philosophy is that every infant has his/her own developmental pace. Workshops are practice time for very important mobility components and sensory experiences that ensure the smooth transition between the milestones and through all the milestones in succession. Development is built stage by stage where each stage is reliant on the skills honed in the previous stage. We want to help you insure that your baby reaches all developmental stages as they are relevant and important to his/her future.
The therapeutic side of our approach is recommended for babies who have a diagnosed or suspected developmental delay. A baby who seems to skip a major developmental stage such as rolling or crawling, or seems to be "stuck" in a specific stage and not progress to the next stage will greatly benefit from our services.
